Candidacy

BC Ambassador is available to any youth between the ages of 17-24 who has previously held a youth ambassador title in BC. Our Ambassadors inspire youth to be essential to their province by fostering Leadership, Education, Volunteerism and Connections through positive youth interactions within their communities.

What does being a candidate entail?

BC Ambassador Candidacy begins in March and culminates in the selection of the British Columbia Ambassador Team on the Last Saturday in July.

As a BC Ambassador Candidate you will be required to complete the following components:

  • a Biography, Resume and 2 Letters of Reference
  • run a promotion and fundraising campaign for the BCAP (with a minimum of $1000 raised)
  • take a provincial knowledge exam (exam material is provided at the beginning of candidacy to study)
  • create a community table display
  • answer an impromptu question
  • write, memorize, & deliver a community speech
  • write, memorize, & deliver a personal speech
  • personal interview with the judging panel
Leadership
Become a role model in your province and exemplify confidence and self esteem while performing Ambassador duties. Gain hands-on experience through independent and team fundraisers, self-promotion and community events.
Volunteerism
Candidates and Ambassadors fundraise and volunteer with local municipalities and businesses creating strong connections of service with these organizations. Offer your time and support to special events throughout BC and become involved with community initiatives.
Education
Funds raised throughout Candidacy and Ambassador reigns contribute to our bursary program. Up to $10,000 is awarded per year to participants to use towards post-secondary education and continued self improvement.
Connection
Ambassadors spend their year travelling throughout BC communities and to other local Ambassador program events. Links of belonging and lifelong friendships are forged and foster positive interactions for youth in BC.
